It’s that time of year…the leaves are starting to change, the mornings are feeling a little cooler, and everyone is decked out in black and gold for any CU Buffs home games! Boulder has always shown up for the Buffs, but with Coach Prime leading the charge since 2023, home game celebrations have taken over the town.

We’ve got the best places to tailgate beforehand and deals for during any of the home games! This weekend is Parents’ Weekend at the university, so expect even more folks than usual.

2025 CU Buffs Homegame Schedule

  • Saturday, September 20 (Parents’ Weekend)
  • Saturday, September 27th
  • Saturday, October 11
  • Saturday, November 1 (Homecoming)
  • Saturday, November 22nd

Where to tailgate

Moxy at Boulder University

Moxy Boulder Hotel opened in 2024 on The Hill at the corner of Broadway and University (RIP No Name Bar, you are still missed). This year, it is hosting some epic tailgate parties for every CU home game with its Patio Pre-Game Parties in the Courtyard bashes. The party starts three hours before each home game with DJs, live music, themed cocktails, food, games, giveaways, and more. Sip on frozen palomas, tropical margaritas, and other drinks, and enjoy grub from local restaurants. The courtyard parties are open to the public (21+), with exclusive perks for hotel guests and Marriott Bonvoy members. 1247 Pleasant St, Boulder CO, @moxyboulderco

Limelight Boulder

Another new hotel right near campus is Limelight Boulder, which is pretty much across the street from Moxy on University Avenue. No tickets are required for this tailgate either, and bonus, it’s an all-ages type of get-together. Simply go to the hotel lawn before each Buffs home game to get pumped with live music, local food, and a ready-to-win vibe. Each party starts about two to three hours before the home game; check its Instagram for specific details. 1295 University Ave, Boulder, @limelighthotel

Buffs Fan Fest

For a fan-provided tailgate, visit to Buffs Fan Fest, CU’s official tailgating party in the field next to the Duane Physics building on campus, which is just across from Folsom Field on Colorado Avenue. At the adjacent field, you’ll find food trucks, games, music and activities for all ages. 2000 Colorado Ave, Boulder, CO, CUbuffs.com

Where to watch the game

The Sink

A local favorite that is right on The Hill near campus, The Sink was established in 1923 and is still a university staple. Head here anytime for top-notch burgers and pizza, but on game days, make sure to go early as it will be packed. For morning games, check out The Sink’s Instagram — they sometimes open a bit earlier and offer brunch specials. 1165 12th Street, Boulder, CO, @thesinkboulder

Boulder Social

Aptly named, Boulder Social is definitely a place to stop in for watching a CU game. Get there early, as the restaurant can get packed pretty quickly. The menu has all sorts of drinks to choose from and plenty of food, like crispy Brussels sprouts, fish and chips, burgers, pizzas, and more. During home or away games, you can get $15 pitchers and $2 off 20-ounce mugs of Boulder Beer Co Buffalo Gold Ale. 1600 38th Street, Boulder, CO, besocialcolorado.com

Avanti F&B

The Avanti food hall in Boulder offers, arguably, the best rooftop view of the Flatirons. On that rooftop, you’ll find a bar and pizza joint, plus plenty of large-screen TVs to watch the game. Gameday specials include $4 cans of Avery Stampede, $10 Spicy Mango Frozen Margaritas, and $10 Stampede and Ralphie’s Reserve. For food, pop down to the main level for five different restaurants at this food hall. 1401 Pearl Street, Boulder, CO, avantifandb.com

Backcountry Pizza and Tap House

Stop in at Backcountry Pizza for a slice of some of the best pizza in town. Share a whole pie with your crew in front of the TVs or opt for our own individual slice from more than 10 different varieties of pizza. Backcountry has tons of microbrews to choose from as well as ciders, hard seltzers, and non-alcoholic beers. 2319 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder, CO, backcountrypizzaandtaphouse.info
