Drawing + Painting: 1st-4th grade (Arvada)

Drawing + Painting: 1st–4th grade (Arvada) is a 12-session, choice-based art course where kids explore drawing and painting through their own ideas. It takes place at artSPARK Creative Studio (6644 Wadsworth Blvd) in Arvada. Designed for 1st–4th graders who love making pictures, the class helps students think and work like real artists while learning new techniques and concepts. The focus is the full creative process—exploring, planning, refining, and reflecting—so each child progresses at their own pace. Projects aren’t “cookie-cutter”; students create personal, meaningful artwork rather than identical outcomes. Instruction includes small-group guidance plus plenty of 1:1 support during studio time. Kids aren’t forced to use every technique right away—observation and readiness are respected, including emotional creative blocks. The amount and type of work students take home varies based on how they like to work (experimenting vs. detailed finishing). Families are invited for the last 15 minutes of the final class for an Artist’s Celebration showcasing student displays.
