Dramatheurgy presents: Undertow

A community’s fears are stoked into paranoia by a mysterious force, who uses the town to summon itself into their reality. But is it the residents of the fictional seaside town — or the audience — who is doing the summoning?

Undertow is an improvised theater production, featuring original music by Jared Allen Lacy, that premiered at the 2026 Denver Fringe Festival.

Undertow is a surrealist horror piece that uses thematic elements of the Weird and the Eerie (Lynch, Vandermeer, Eggers, Danielewski, etc.) to explore the psychodynamics of residents of a small coastal town who find themselves living under an authoritarian regime, and the mutual reinforcement between community atomization and oppression.
