Following a Line

Following a Line

Following a Line is a two-person exhibition at SYNC Gallery in Denver featuring new work by artists Sandy Marvin and Phyllis Rider. The show spotlights “line” as both a visual language and a way of thinking—ranging from disciplined marks to expressive, fluid strokes. Marvin draws on 20 years of calligraphy to inform her landscapes and still lifes, using visible strokes to create a direct connection between viewer and artist. Her work emphasizes contour, brushwork, and the emotional immediacy of the hand-made line. Rider approaches abstraction through process and experimentation, letting each piece evolve without a fixed endpoint. Working in acrylic, solar relief etchings, and monotypes, she builds layered color, rhythmic line, and textured surfaces. Expect art that moves between energetic motion and quieter moments of contemplation. Ideal for art lovers, creatives, and anyone curious about contemporary approaches to drawing, mark-making, and print-based processes.
