Optics Fabrication Technician (Temp-to-Hire)
Location: Boulder, CO
Pay Rate: $20-24/hour DOE
Shift Differential: Additional pay based on selected shift
Shifts Available:
• 1st Shift: Monday - Thursday | 6:00am - 4:30pm
• 2nd Shift: Monday - Thursday | 3:30pm - 2:00am
• Weekend Day Shift: Friday - Sunday | 6:00am - 6:30pm
Position Overview:
Join our innovative manufacturing team as an Optics Technician and bring your attention to detail to the forefront of optical component fabrication. You will work on creating precision optical elements tailored to customer specifications through diverse fabrication methods. This temp-to-hire opportunity presents great potential for growth, including cross-training and opportunities to advance into leadership roles.
Your responsibilities will involve working under the supervision of the Production Supervisor or Production Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
• Optical Fabrication:
• Craft precision optical components from initial designs to finished products
• Engage in beveling, milling, blocking, grinding, polishing, curve generation, and inspection
• Ensure all outputs meet customer and quality standards
• Quality & Inspection:
• Conduct thorough inspections, measurements, and quality checks during fabrication
• Adhere to established quality protocols and documentation processes
• Experience with quality inspection is highly desirable
• Process Management:
• Monitor and sustain fabrication parameters, including Baume and pH levels
• Keep work areas clean and organized to uphold quality standards
• Advanced Blocking & Polishing:
• Execute precise blocking and polishing tasks, including single test plates
• Maintain stringent tolerances and control for exceptional finishes
• Process Improvement:
• Identify opportunities to enhance fabrication efficiency and quality
• Contribute ideas to support continuous improvement initiatives
• Training & Mentorship:
• Assist in mentoring junior technicians as required
• Help train others on fabrication techniques, equipment, and best practices
• Take on leadership roles in projects as your experience grows
• Additional Duties:
• Perform other tasks as assigned to aid departmental objectives
Qualifications:
• Education: High School Diploma or GED required
• Experience: Prior optics or fabrication experience is preferred; quality inspection experience is a plus
• Work Ethic: Reliable, detail-oriented, and dedicated to precision
• Team Skills: Effective collaborator with strong interpersonal skills
