Boulder’s Only Yarn Shop Is Closing Downtown

Lula Faye Fiber—the only brick-and-mortar yarn shop in Boulder—will close at the end of the year, marking another loss for the city’s local craft scene.

Opened in 2022 near Pearl Street, the shop became a community hub for knitters and fiber artists, spotlighting Colorado yarn makers and hosting classes and meetups. Owner Nathalie Smith cited rising downtown rents and the natural end of her lease as key factors, saying specialty craft shops are especially hard to sustain.

Before closing, Lula Faye raised funds and food for local nonprofits and celebrated with a final community event. After it shutters, locally made yarns will be harder to find in Boulder, underscoring broader pressures facing small, independent retailers downtown.
