Hey Boulder! 🌞

Happy Monday, Boulder! Ben here — and yes, I’m writing this with a baby bottle on one side and a lukewarm latte on the other. As a new dad running on caffeine and chaos, quiet coffee + book time now feels like a luxury spa day.

So imagine my delight when a lively local thread dropped a treasure trove of recommendations for cozy coffee-and-reading spots around town. Whether you’re hunting for cushy chairs, peaceful corners, or just a vibe that says “I could actually finish a chapter here,” Boulder delivered.

Here’s where locals swear by for that warm-mug, page-turning magic:

📖 Trident Booksellers & Café

The undisputed champion of the cozy-reading universe. Candle-lit vibes, literary air, and shelves whispering read me. Locals call it their “safe place,” and honestly… same.

🏞️ Boulder Public Library (Main Branch)

Multiple people shouted this one out — and for good reason. The quiet café, river views, and those dreamy window seats over the water? Peak Boulder tranquility.

🛋️ Creature Comforts Café (17th & Pearl)

A rising favorite. Tons of seating, creative drinks, name-remembering staff, and a no-tipping model. Peaceful during the week = prime reading hours.

🍵 Pekoe (Alpine)

Cozy, calm, and reliable. The old Sip House may be gone, but this one still gives off that perfect slow-morning energy.

📘 The Bookworm

Exactly what it sounds like — and exactly the kind of spot you want when your only plan is “read for a little” and suddenly it’s been two hours.

🏔️ St. Julien Lobby

Left-field pick? Yes. Surprisingly perfect? Also yes. Plush chairs, fireplaces, and mountain-view serenity. Luxury reading hour unlocked.

Suti & Co.

Cozy, soft, warm aesthetics. Feels like reading inside a Pinterest board in the best way.

January Coffee

No wifi on weekends (intentionally!) which makes it excellent for staying off your phone and actually reading. Caveat: it gets packed.

🌲 Red Rock Coffeehouse (Broadway & Iris)

Simple, quiet, and underrated for weekday reading. A couple folks want it cozier — but the calm, steady energy makes it a solid reading nook.

🪑 The Coffee Stand (Broadway & Arapahoe)

Grandma furniture. Mountain views. Soft chairs. Enough said.

📍 Bonus: Outside Boulder but worth it

  • The Read Queen (Lafayette) — dreamy local bookstore café energy

  • Brew (Lafayette) — inviting, comfy, and perfect for long reading sessions

  • Maisonette — latte + pastry + quiet corner = joy

Former Players Donate Bronze Statue of Coach Bill McCartney

Colorado football legend Bill McCartney now stands watch over CU’s practice field, thanks to a new bronze statue donated by former players.

McCartney is CU’s winningest coach and led the Buffs to their only national title in 1990 — a defining era in Boulder sports history.

  • 8.5-foot statue installed on Franklin Field.

  • Unveiled Friday night with family, former players, Deion Sanders, and the current team.

  • Granite base features McCartney’s quote: “Big Dreams Create the Magic That Stir Men’s Souls to Greatness.”

  • McCartney died in January at age 84.

The statue will remain a permanent presence overlooking CU practices — a tribute to Coach Mac’s legacy.
