Hey Boulder! 🌞

Hey, it’s Ben, founder of What's Happenin' Boulder. I spent the past few months checking out some of Boulder’s gentler trails, the kind you can stroll without breaking a sweat (or a hiking pole). Whether you’re getting fresh air with your pup, a stroller, or a coffee in hand, these easy and mobility-friendly paths prove that adventure doesn’t have to mean uphill battles.

Sensory Trail by OSMP Staff

I spent the past months exploring some of Boulder’s gentler trails — the ones that don’t leave you gasping for air halfway up. Whether you’re walking with a stroller, a pup, or just want a chill nature break, these local paths make getting outside easy and enjoyable.

Here are a few of my favorite mobility-friendly, dog-approved spots to check out this week:

🐶 Cherryvale Trailhead

📍 East Boulder

A smooth, wide dirt path that’s great for leashed dogs and evening strolls. You’ll get wide-open views of the Flatirons and plenty of prairie dogs popping up to say hi.

🌿 Dry Creek Trail

📍 North Boulder

This mellow paved path winds along the creek with benches and shady stretches. It connects several neighborhoods, so it’s perfect if you want to keep things flat and flexible.

👣 Sensory Trail at Wonderland Lake

📍 North Boulder

Created to engage all five senses, this short loop features textured pathways, fragrant plants, and interpretive signs. It’s fully accessible and designed for visitors of all abilities — a lovely, peaceful spot for mindful walks.

🌻 Marshall Valley Trail

📍 South Boulder

A wide trail through gentle grasslands, great for wheelchairs or scooters with off-road tires. Keep an eye out for soaring hawks and grazing deer in the early morning light.

Sometimes the best Boulder days aren’t about big climbs — they’re about slowing down, letting the dog sniff everything, and just being outside. See you on the trail!
