Ride from Denver to Golden? Yes, itās a thing.
Clear Creek Trail
The Clear Creek Trail is one of those routes that feels like a journey, not just a workout. Stretching about 18 miles, it connects from Denver all the way to the foothills, giving you a front-row seat to the city slowly turning into mountains.
Youāll start near the South Platte River and follow Clear Creek as it winds through neighborhoods, parks, and open space. Itās mostly paved, super rideable, and ideal whether youāre going for a casual cruise or a full send toward Golden.
And then⦠the payoff.
As you roll west, the views shiftāindustrial turns into greenways, and eventually those iconic foothill buttes start rising in front of you. By the time you hit Golden, it feels like youāve earned your arrival.
Hereās what makes this ride worth it š
šŗ Coors Brewery ā The largest single-site brewery in the world. Yes, you can stop for a tour (and yes, it tastes better after a ride).
šļø Colorado Railroad Museum ā A surprisingly cool stop with vintage locomotives and train rides.
š North Table Mountain Park ā If youāve got extra energy, this is where things get steep (and the views get wild).
šļø Lookout Mountain + Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave ā A legendary climb for cyclists who want to level up.
š¦ Washington Ave stroll ā Think patios, ice cream, local shops, and that old-school Western charm.
And honestly? Even if you donāt bike the full distance, hopping on a section of the trail is still a win. Itās one of those āwhy donāt I do this more often?ā kind of experiences.
