Happy Wednesday, Denver ! 🧩🎉

Ben here. The city’s about to flip the switch on holiday mode — literally. Winter Wanderland returns tomorrow, and Cherry Creek North is about to glow with more than one million lights (yes, we counted… or at least someone did).

Between the festive markets, the cozy Mistletoe Lounge, and those joy-sparking Giving Machines, this is one of the easiest ways to feel the holiday vibe without freezing at a mountain town tree lighting. Let’s wander through what’s happening.

✨ Winter Wanderland Lights Up Cherry Creek North

If you’re itching for that first real hit of holiday cheer, Cherry Creek North is officially delivering. Winter Wanderland kicks off tomorrow, and the whole neighborhood transforms into a dazzling, mile-long glow-fest — we’re talking one million lights wrapped around 600+ trees. It’s as extra as it sounds, and it’s one of Denver’s most walkable, festive traditions.

Here’s what’s worth checking out all season long:

🎁 Cherry Creek Holiday Market

Fillmore Plaza turns into a winter shopping village lined with local makers, artists, designers, and some of the coolest small-batch gifts you’ll find anywhere. Shop under the lights, sip something festive, and pretend you’re done Christmas shopping.

🕒 Hours:

Sun–Wed: 12–7 PM • Thu–Sat: 11–9 PM

Thanksgiving & Christmas Eve: 12–3 PM

🍸 Mistletoe Lounge

One of Denver’s favorite holiday pop-ups is back. Expect twinkling lights, cozy corners, and an overachieving lineup of holiday cocktails (plus zero-proof options). Great for a casual drop-in, great for a party, great for pretending you’re in a Netflix holiday movie.

🎁 Light the World: Giving Machines

These vending machines let you “buy” donations for local and global nonprofits — from diapers and groceries to goats and clean-water access kits. You swipe your card, your donation drops into the bin, and you instantly feel like a good human.

Located at the entrance to the Holiday Market.

🌟 The Vibe?

Festive, family-friendly, date-night approved, and honestly just a great excuse to bundle up and wander somewhere pretty. It runs Nov 20–Dec 24, so you’ve got plenty of time to catch the magic.

City Defends Health Inspector After Bleach Dumping Incident

A video circulating on social media shows a Denver health inspector pouring bleach onto food belonging to Tacos Tacolorado, an unlicensed street vendor operating near Evans & Colorado Blvd. City officials say the action came after multiple citations, two cease-and-desist orders, and repeated violations involving unsafe temperatures, improper sanitation, and food being prepared in a residential kitchen.

Inspectors say they used bleach only after staff began moving food into a locked truck to avoid disposal — noting the method is legal, though rarely used. More than 145 lbs of food had already been discarded during prior inspections. The vendor has not publicly commented.

Stay Cozy, Denver

Thanks for reading and kicking off the holiday season with me. If you make it to Winter Wanderland this week, send me a photo — I love seeing this community out exploring the city.

This is the kind of holiday atmosphere that can single-handedly kickstart your seasonal spirit. Go wander a little.

Trivia Answer: B) The reddish sandstone along the creek bed gave Cherry Creek its name — not actual cherries. Nature’s plot twist.
