Happy Monday, FoCo fam,

If the world feels a little loud lately, here’s your reminder that calm still exists—and it lives right here. A new national ranking just crowned Fort Collins the one of the most peaceful cities in the entire U.S. But what does “peaceful” actually mean, and why did FoCo rise above the rest? Let’s take a breath and break it down.

🌿 Fort Collins: One of America’s Most Peaceful Places

🌿 Fort Collins: One of America’s Most Peaceful Places

If Fort Collins feels quieter, slower, and easier to breathe in than most places, there’s data to back that up. In a 2023 national ranking, Fort Collins was named one of the most peaceful places to live in the United States—and the criteria line up pretty closely with everyday life here.

The list focused on two simple but telling factors: noise levels and access to outdoor space.

Why Fort Collins Made the Cut

  • 🤫 Mean Noise Level: 38.03 dBA

That’s roughly the sound of rustling leaves or a quiet room—very reasonable for a city of this size.

  • 🌳 Access to Outdoor Space: 73% of residents live within a 10-minute walk of a park.

In other words, Fort Collins isn’t just calm by Colorado standards—it’s objectively quieter and greener than many cities nationwide.

Outdoor access played a big role in the ranking, with nearby favorites like Horsetooth Reservoir and Lory State Park highlighted as popular places to unplug, wander, and reset.

The Real Reason It Feels Peaceful

What this ranking really captures isn’t just numbers—it’s livability. Quiet neighborhoods, bike-friendly streets, parks tucked into every corner of town, and easy access to nature all contribute to a pace of life that doesn’t feel rushed or overwhelming.

And while this list is based on 2023 data, the fact that Fort Collins still feels this calm in 2026 says a lot. Whether you’re walking to a nearby park, biking across town, or heading west for a quick escape into the foothills, peace here isn’t something you have to chase—it’s already built in.
