🏠 IKEA Is Officially Opening in Fort Collins

🏠 IKEA Is Officially Opening in Fort Collins

Well… it’s happening.

After years of “maybe someday” and road trips to Centennial, Fort Collins is officially getting its own IKEA — and naturally, the internet has thoughts. Smaller footprint? Fine. Swedish meatballs? Essential. Traffic concerns? Also valid. 👀

Here’s what we know so far.

🏢 Where Is It Going?

IKEA is opening a small-format store in south Fort Collins at:

📍 Front Range Village Shopping Center

4250 Corbett Drive

(The former Urban Air / Toys “R” Us building east of Lowe’s)

The space is about 64,000 square feet — roughly one-sixth the size of the massive Centennial location. Think: curated showroom, not labyrinth endurance challenge.

🗓 When Will It Open?

The store is set to open this fall (2026) as part of IKEA’s nationwide expansion. Fort Collins is one of four newly announced locations, alongside cities in California, Oklahoma, and Illinois.

No more 80-mile pilgrimage for minimalist shelving.

🛋 What Will It Actually Have?

This isn’t a full warehouse-style IKEA — but it’s not tiny either.

Here’s what’s planned:

  • 🛏 Around 3,200 items available in-store

  • 🪑 About 250 small furniture pieces for immediate purchase

  • 📐 A central planning area for kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms

  • 📦 Order larger items for pickup or delivery

  • 🌭 Yes… Swedish meatballs, hot dogs, veggie dogs & cinnamon buns

Reddit reactions ranged from “Yesssss!” to “This means more traffic 😩” to “Don’t tell my wife… I’ll be assembling stuff every weekend.”

And honestly? All fair.

💰 What It Could Mean for FoCo

City officials say a store of this size could generate millions in annual sales tax revenue. It also fills a large vacant building and brings in regional shoppers from Wyoming and western Nebraska — since the Centennial store is currently Colorado’s only full-size location.

Translation: more shopping traffic, more economic activity, more Allen wrenches (aka “garbage disposal fixing tools”).
