Happy Monday, Longmont!🧡

As the days slowly stretch longer and hints of spring start sneaking back into Colorado mornings, sunrise walks might be the best way to enjoy the quiet side of town. We spotted a great local thread asking for easy walks under 2.5 miles, perfect for early mornings with kids. Here are a few spots locals swear by.

Golden Ponds Nature Area

🌅 Golden Ponds Nature Area

📍 2651 3rd Ave | Easy dirt trails

Golden Ponds is a local favorite for peaceful morning walks. Several short loop options make it easy to keep things under 2 miles while still enjoying wetlands, ponds, and occasional wildlife sightings. Early morning light over the water here can be surprisingly beautiful.

🚶 St. Vrain GreenwaySandstone Ranch

📍 3001 Sandstone Dr | Paved, flat trail

This stretch of the Greenway offers wide open views, ponds, and historic farm buildings along the path. It’s mostly flat and stroller-friendly, making it great for kids tagging along. Bonus: on clear mornings you’ll catch views of Longs Peak and the Twin Sisters.

🌾 Pella Crossing (Hygiene)

📍 11600 N 75th St | Gravel loop trails

A short drive from Longmont, Pella Crossing has several short looping paths that are perfect for quick morning walks. The terrain is flat and easy, with big open skies and farmland views that glow during sunrise.

🌿 Rogers Grove & Cattail Pond

📍 220 Hover St | Paved paths

This quiet park tucked along the St. Vrain is another sunrise favorite. Walk along the river, loop around Cattail Pond, or connect to the Greenway trail system. It’s peaceful, scenic, and rarely crowded early in the morning.

☀️ Lagerman Reservoir – Open Sky Loop

📍 16501 WCR 5 | Gravel trail

This wide-open loop delivers huge sky views and quiet farmland surroundings. The full loop is longer, but you can easily walk a shorter section and turn around whenever you’d like.
