🌳 Explore Longmont’s Parks: Your Local Green Escape Plan

Longmont isn’t just close to the mountains—it’s full of its own wild, wonderful spaces. With more than 40 parks around town, you’re never more than a few minutes from a place to picnic, paddleboard, toss a frisbee, or just take a deep breath. Here’s where to start:

🦌 Get Close to Nature

  • St. Vrain State Park: A peaceful haven of ponds and trails with RV camping and birdwatching galore.

  • McIntosh Lake: Great for paddleboarding, sunrises, and spotting Longs Peak over the water.

  • Golden Ponds: Quiet, scenic, and full of birdwatchers (and birds)—plus paved paths for all ages.

  • Union Reservoir: Go sailing, swimming, or simply chill on the beach with mountain views.

🛶 Adventure & Activity

  • Dickens Farm Nature Area: Where you can walk, bike, or even tube down the St. Vrain. Yes, you heard us—tubing in town.

  • Sandstone Ranch Park: Bring the kids, skates, soccer balls, or your curiosity—it’s got sports fields, skate areas, hiking trails, and even a nature learning zone.

🎶 Community + Chill

  • Roosevelt Park: The heart of downtown park life. Think shady lawns, splash-worthy pool days, summer concerts, and holiday markets. Also home to the historic pavilion and events all year long.

🏊 More Than Just Parks: Longmont Rec Has It All

Looking to break a sweat or cool off? Longmont Recreation runs three year-round rec centers with everything from swimming and fitness to indoor sports and group workouts. When the season’s right, you’ve also got three outdoor pools, a sunny-day favorite at Union Reservoir, and even a seasonal outdoor ice rink for your winter glide.

Need more? Stop by the Sandstone Ranch Visitor’s Center, book a special event at the Historic Callahan House, or explore the cozy Izaak Walton Clubhouse. Oh—and don’t forget your clubs: Longmont’s home to three scenic public golf courses, too.⛳

♿️ Everyone’s Invited

Longmont parks are designed to be welcoming to all. Flanders Park and Dawson Park at McIntosh Lake feature inclusive playgrounds—so every kid can get in on the fun.

Whether you’re chasing elk at dawn in nearby Rocky Mountain National Park or chasing toddlers through splash pads in town, Longmont’s park scene has you covered. Grab your sunnies and a snack—we’ll see you out there.
