❄️ Grab Your Skates, Longmont — The Ice Pavilion Is Back!

If you’ve been itching to lace up your skates, glide under the covered roof at Roosevelt Park, or gracefully grab the wall like the rest of us… your season starts this Friday.

Skating kicks off at 1 PM, and no reservations are needed for public skate — just show up and shuffle, spin, or penguin-walk your way across the ice. (All skill levels welcome. Chaos encouraged.)

• Adults (18–54): $12

• Youth (4–17) & Adults 55+: $11

→ Punch passes are available if you basically live on the ice.

⛸ No reservations required for open skate — but drop-in hockey does require online reservations. Check schedules and fees on the city’s Rec Services page.

🦃 Closed on Thanksgiving, so plan your turkey-day skating accordingly.

CSkydiver Dies Near Vance Brand Airport

Authorities are investigating after a solo skydiver died Sunday afternoon in a field near Longmont’s Vance Brand Airport. Hygiene Fire and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office responded around 3 p.m., confirming the skydiver did not survive.

The area is home to Mile-High Skydiving Center, and while skydiving deaths are rare nationally (fewer than 10 a year, according to the FAA), this marks the fifth incident reported near the airport in seven years. A nearby resident who called 911 said she hopes to take a CPR class after assisting until responders arrived.
