Windstorm Rips Roof Off Longmont Climbing Gym

High winds tore the roof off Longmont Climbing Collective early Friday, forcing an evacuation and closing the gym indefinitely.

What happened:

Wind gusts of 60–80 mph peeled away large sections of the roof, prompting contractors to remove the remaining damaged panels by crane.

Why it matters:

Owners estimate $100,000–$150,000 in repair costs, much of it not covered by insurance due to a wind-related deductible. The closure hits during the gym’s busiest season.

What’s next:

The owners launched a GoFundMe to help cover repairs and support staff. If inspections and weather cooperate, they hope to reopen after the holidays.
