🎨 Longmont’s Analog Era Is Looking Pretty Good Right Now

whl 56.jpg

Happy Wednesday, Longmont!🧡

Somewhere between doomscrolling, five open tabs, and accidentally watching a stranger organize their pantry for 14 minutes, a lot of us have started craving hobbies that involve actual human hands again. Turns out, Longmont’s full of places where you can put the phone down, make something weird or beautiful, and maybe even meet people who also own three unfinished craft projects at home.

In today’s What’s Happenin’:

• Needle felted flowers and paint-and-sip nights

• Crochet circles, clay clubs, and creative hangs

• Why screen-free hobbies might be the real wellness trend of 2026

What’s Happenin’ is growing — want to join us?

Last month our local newsletters across Boulder, Arvada, Fort Collins, Longmont, and Denver were opened 275,000+ times by locals looking for things to do and places to go.

As we continue to grow, I’m looking to add one or two people to help with partnerships with local businesses.

If you love supporting local businesses and want to help grow these newsletters, just reply to this email and tell me a little about yourself.

🧶 Craft Nights, Clay Tables & Creative Escapes Around Longmont

🧶 Craft Nights, Clay Tables & Creative Escapes Around Longmont

There’s something kind of refreshing happening around town lately — more people are trading endless scrolling for paintbrushes, yarn, clay, and good old-fashioned “making stuff.” And honestly? Longmont might be one of the best places on the Front Range to lean into it.

These kinds of analog hobbies do more than just fill a night on the calendar. They slow people down, get neighbors talking again, and create spaces where strangers actually interact without staring at notifications every 30 seconds. In a world that feels increasingly online all the time, these creative gatherings feel surprisingly important.

Here are a few ways Longmont locals are getting crafty this week:

🎨 Art & Sip: Needle Felted Poppies
📍 Longmont Museum | ⏰ May 7, 4–6 PM | 🎟️ $40
→ Learn how to sculpt colorful poppy flowers out of wool while sipping your favorite drink and pretending you’ve always known what “needle felting” was. Part workshop, part social night, part accidental therapy session.

🖌️ Canvas Classic — Paint & Sip Classes
📍 The Canvas Local Art Bar | ⏰ Thurs–Sat, 6–9 PM | 🎟️ $45
→ Longmont’s modern take on paint night. Expect locally sourced drinks, step-by-step guidance, and the comforting realization that everyone else also started with a very questionable-looking canvas.

🏺 Kids Art Club: Clay Explorations
📍 Tumbleweed Art Collective | ⏰ May 7, 3:30–5:30 PM | 🎟️ $20
→ A laid-back after-school creative club where kids can explore clay, art supplies, and hands-on projects without worrying about perfection. Messy hands encouraged.

🧵 Teen Craft & Create Club
📍 Longmont Museum | ⏰ Wednesdays, 3–5 PM | 🎟️ Free (suggested donation $5)
→ A free weekly hangout for teens featuring collage, painting, fiber arts, snacks, and space to just exist creatively for a while. Honestly, more cities need programs like this.

🪡 Crochet Guild Meeting
📍 667 4th Ave | ⏰ First Wednesdays, 6–9 PM | 🎟️ Free
→ Crochet, conversation, charity projects, and learning new techniques with fellow yarn people. One of the most wholesome recurring events happening in Longmont right now.

🎨 Discovery Days: Art with Ms. Leigh & Henry
📍 Longmont Museum | ⏰ Wed–Sat sessions | 🎟️ $2.50–$2.75
→ Hands-on art, movement, and music activities for little ones and caregivers. Tiny humans making art together might honestly be the purest form of community-building we’ve got.

And maybe that’s the thing. These spaces aren’t really about becoming a master painter or expert crocheter. They’re about sitting at a table with other people, trying something new, laughing at mistakes, and remembering that community doesn’t always have to happen through a screen.
