East Coast pizza, small-town soul. Rosalee’s serves up thin, crispy pies with handmade dough and sauce that tastes like someone’s Nonna is in the back. Grab a pint, hit the pinball machine, and settle in—this is your new pizza night tradition.
🌅 Golden Ponds: Longmont’s Lakeside Gem
Golden Ponds Nature Area might just be Longmont’s best-kept “not-so-secret” secret. Once upon a time, this was a gravel mining site, but local legend Vernon “Vern” Golden decided the town needed more ducks and fishing poles than dump trucks — so he donated the land. Today, a bronze statue of Vern teaching a young boy to fish stands by the path, making it feel like you’re walking right into a warm, hometown story.
Spread across 88 acres (with a splashy 56 acres of water), Golden Ponds is basically nature’s lounge chair. You’ve got 2.6 miles of trails, epic views of Longs Peak and the Front Range, nine picnic shelters for your sandwich-savoring pleasure, and an ADA-accessible fishing pier so everyone can cast a line. Bird nerds will have a field day spotting great blue herons, cormorants, and other winged regulars, while stroll-seekers can connect to the St. Vrain Greenway for a longer wander.
Golden Ponds has even had its comeback moment — after the 2013 floods, the trails, spillway, and a shiny new pedestrian bridge were restored, making the place better than ever. Whether you’re reeling in a fish, snapping mountain-reflection selfies, or just basking in the “ahh” of the water and wildlife, this is one of those places where the pace slows down and life just… feels good.
