🌅 Easy Sunrise Walks Around Longmont

Looking to stretch your legs before the world wakes up? Whether you’re walking with an 8-year-old, a coffee thermos, or just a need for mountain views, these easy, under-2.5-mile walks are local-approved and sunrise-ready.

Here’s where Longmont says to go when the sun’s coming up:

Top pick for a reason. Paved paths, still water, and morning light on the mountains—it’s pure peace before breakfast.

🛤 St. Vrain Trail at Sandstone Ranch

Flat and paved with bonus scenery: farmland, ponds, old barns, and a quick climb to a lookout spot. It’s an out-and-back, so you can turn around whenever the kiddo (or your coffee) hits their limit.

Multiple short gravel loops with wide-open views. Not as dramatic as some others, but perfect if you want options and a quiet vibe.

Small, simple, and loved for its sunrise light. Bonus points if you catch mist over the lake—it’s a moment.

🌾 Rogers Grove + Cattail Pond

Flat paths and hidden gems behind the fairgrounds. Easy walking, early birds, and golden light reflecting off the

🌬 Lagerman Reservoir + Open Sky Loop

Wide trails with huge sky energy. It’s not a loop, so just stroll out and turn back when your legs (or little legs) say so.

🐾 Coot Lake (Just west of Longmont)

Technically closer to Boulder, but worth it for soft trails, peaceful water, and pup-friendly fun. A local favorite for walking and a little splashing.

Flat riverside paths + sunrise from the bridge = chef’s kiss. Quiet, walkable, and easy to access.

Seven laps = your steps for the day. It’s downtown, well-lit, and easy to squeeze in before work or school.

Pro tip: Sunrise is your reward, but coffee after is non-negotiable. Try MeCo Coffee, Ziggi’s, or Java Stop after your walk—because you earned it. ☕️
