Within her solo show “Luminous Beasts,” artist Karina Vogt spotlights the mesmerizing creatures that share our planet. From slithering snakes, glimmering and slick, to regal felines, majestic and menacing, one can’t help but be drawn in. Escape into a world where birds take flight, big cats captivate with a single gaze and even Rock God David Bowie makes a cameo as himself and in fox form. A poetic and intense ode to the animal kingdom, “Luminous Beasts” reminds us of our own instincts, desires and dichotomic nature. Within the captivating work, birds find unexpected refuge in the mouth of a gator, an iguana sunbathes and a rattlesnake looks even more captivating in a feathered headdress. From a pensive indigo-shaded owl to shiny-gilled goldfish undulating in the sea, over 20 intricate and original paintings make up this stirring collection. A self-taught artist, Vogt has an innate talent for crafting work that is both commanding and calming. Meet the creative behind these striking pieces. The show runs through Sept. 1, 2025.
