About This Event

Join the Boulder Symphony Music Academy for a special cello masterclass with Heewon Lee, Principal Cellist of the Boulder Symphony! Korean American cellist Heewon Lee is a founding member of the Koa String Quartet and a graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder, where she studied under the mentorship of the Takács Quartet and David Requiro. Originally from Honolulu, she also holds degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the Eastman School of Music, and has performed internationally with the Lincoln Center Stage Piano Quartet as well as ensembles including the Colorado Symphony, Boulder Philharmonic, Grand Rapids Symphony, Sarasota Opera, Rochester Philharmonic, and Hawaii Symphony Orchestra. In 2024, she was appointed Principal Cellist of the Boulder Symphony. Passionate about teaching students of all ages and levels, Heewon focuses on helping cellists build strong fundamentals, confidence, and joy in their playing. This masterclass is a wonderful opportunity for both current Boulder Symphony Music Academy students and public participants with 1+ years of cello experience to learn in a supportive and inspiring environment. Participation in the masterclass is limited to 8 active performers, allowing each student individualized feedback and performance experience. Observers are also welcome to attend and learn from the session. This is a non-refundable event.
