About This Event
Women have always been at the forefront of fighting for equal rights and fair representation…and AI is the next battle. From the streets of the suffragist movement to the screens of the 21st century, women have a history of leading the charge for equal opportunity and fair representation. Today, artificial intelligence is reshaping work, creativity, and governance, but who gets a seat at the table, whose likeness is used, and whose voices are amplified…or silenced? This conversation dives into how AI is impacting representation, opportunity, and protection for women across media, government, and the workplace. In film and media, we often focus on what’s on screen, but systems, policies, contracts, and collective protections determine what’s fair, who is safeguarded, and whether AI is used responsibly. With insights from Suma Nallapati, the City and County of Denver’s first Chief AI and Information Officer and Next50’s Director of Advocacy & Strategic Initiatives Sydney Byer, this conversation will use film as a lens to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping representation, opportunity and protection for women across media, government, and the workplace. It focuses on the structural forces behind the scenes — such as contracts, legal systems and data practices — and highlights how women are advocating for accountability, equity, and agency in this rapidly evolving landscape. More panelists to be announced.
