About This Event
For more than 15 years, DMNS has explored various aspects of our dynamic planet in Digital Earth—with this latest program putting you in the path of one of nature’s most powerful forces: hurricanes. Settle in for a multi-sensory experience under the Gates Planetarium dome to discover how hurricanes form, where they strike and how climate change may be influencing their intensity and frequency. Through dramatic firsthand accounts and immersive 360-degree imagery, including panoramic visuals from Hurricane Helene’s devastating impact in western North Carolina, you’ll experience these massive storms from the inside out. Hosted by DMNS experts Dr. KaChun Yu, curator of Space Sciences, and Bob Raynolds, geologist and educator, you’ll go beyond the forecast as they share how scientists are working to better predict hurricanes, reduce risks and help protect communities before the next storm strikes.
