Join author Luke Goebel for a conversation with Pardeep Toor as they discuss fiction, violence, addiction, class, and the strange emotional landscapes of contemporary America. Goebel will speak about his acclaimed novel Kill Dick, a darkly comic literary thriller set amid the opioid crisis and the fractured glamour of Los Angeles. Toor will discuss his recent collection Hands: Stories, which explores intimacy, labor, migration, family, and survival through sharp, compassionate storytelling. Together, the two writers will examine how fiction can confront brutality and tenderness at once, creating characters who struggle toward meaning in worlds shaped by precarity, desire, and power. The evening will include a moderated discussion followed by audience Q&A and a book signing. The event is happening at the Tattered Cover, May 26.
