About This Event

Museo de las Americas alongside educators and artists from across the Colorado Front Range are proud to present their first exhibition of 2026, Nuestras Historias. Developed and curated by Andrea Garcia Vasquez and Dr. Kristina Stamatis in collaboration with Museo’s Lxs Jovenes Leadership Lab, led by Museo’s Programming and Interpretation Manager Sean Trujillo, the exhibition centers youth identities, stories, and experiences. The exhibition will open January 29th through May 17th, 2026, with an opening reception from 6:00pm-9:00pm on Thursday, January 29th. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artists and youth participants. Complementing the exhibition, Museo will feature a series of programs and lectures featuring artists, youth, and educators. Nuestras Historias is an art exhibit created as a conversation between teens and professional artists. The art explores themes of tradition, justice, identity, and playfulness through embroidery, painting, drawing, ceramics, poetry, and video. This collaboration puts youth and professional artworks together to examine the cultural contexts youth navigate as they engage in the world today.  "We are deeply grateful for this meaningful collaboration with the University of Nebraska Omaha and the University of Colorado Boulder in developing this groundbreaking project. After 10 years of nurturing creative leadership through our Lxs Jovenes Leadership Lab, we were ready to take an innovative leap like this—one that reimagines the role of youth voices in museum spaces and honors their stories as central to our cultural narrative" said Claudia Moran, Executive Director at Museo de las Americas.
