Musical Style: Jazz Join us for a night of entirely original music composed and led by Colorado-born multi-instrumentalist Sonya Walker. A highly versatile musician with many influences, Walker leads her quintet from the piano, but may also chime in by using her voice or the synth sounds she designs. Her music is tailored for the unique voice of each of her brilliant band members, and the real magic is in the sound they create together; open, fearless, and alive. Described as "a force of nature" and "monstrously creative", Walker has played with Randy Brecker, Chie Imaizumi, Roy Hargrove, Greg Gisbert, and Art Lande. Her fascination with fairytales, riddles, and stories frequently informs and inspires her compositions. The result is a shape-shifting music that runs all over the moon, brought to life by outstanding young musicians who are unlikely to do the same thing twice.
