About This Event
Join the Global Village Museum on Friday, June 6 for the opening of Echoes of the Red Era: The Aesthetics of Chinese Propaganda, an exhibition exploring the power of visual messaging in Maoist China. Enjoy live music by the States Music Duo from 5:30–7 pm and free admission from 5–8 pm during Fort Collins’ First Friday Art Walk. Curator Kat Bertram will discuss the global impact of propaganda art, from Mao-era posters to modern media. The exhibit, on display through September 20, features a rare collection donated by Todd Cornell, including posters, prints, and Cultural Revolution-era artifacts that offer a vivid look at art as political influence. Running through September 20, the show includes rare artifacts like Inner Mongolian garments, Mao-era scrolls, and original propaganda art, providing a rich, immersive look at the intersection of art, ideology, and influence. In addition to live music, there will also be NITRO ICE CREAM (from Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream) available for purchase just outside the Museum.
