Once Upon a Mattress is a rollicking musical comedy that puts a hilarious twist on the classic fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea." In a medieval kingdom ruled by the domineering Queen Aggravain and the mild-mannered King Sextimus (who's been cursed to silence), no one is allowed to marry until Prince Dauntless finds a bride. But the Queen has rigged impossible tests for every princess who applies, ensuring her son stays single. That is, until the unconventional Princess Winnifred the Woebegone arrives, having swum the castle moat to seek the Prince's hand. With her infectious energy and unprincess-like charm, Winnifred shakes up the court. To sabotage her, the Queen devises the ultimate sensitivity test: a tiny pea placed under twenty mattresses. Will Winnifred prove her royal worth and live happily ever after?
