Budtender – Cannabis Retail

About the Role Rocky Mountain High is seeking passionate, reliable, and customer-focused Budtenders to join our retail team. This position may be hired in at Budtender I (Entry-Level) or Budtender II (Experienced) depending on prior experience, cannabis knowledge, and performance during the interview process. Budtenders are responsible for delivering a compliant, welcoming, and educational cannabis retail experience while adhering to all Colorado MED regulations and internal company standards. What You’ll DoCustomer Experience & Cannabis Sales • Greet and assist customers in a professional, judgment-free manner • Provide cannabis product recommendations based on customer needs, tolerance, and experience level • Educate customers on product types, potency, dosing, terpene profiles, and consumption methods • Communicate daily deals, promotions, and loyalty program offerings • Build compliant add-on sales while maintaining customer trust and safety Guest Identification & Compliance • Verify valid government-issued photo identification for every guest • Ensure all customers are 21 years of age or older prior to any cannabis-related interaction • Follow all Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) regulations and company SOPs • Adhere to purchase limits, product handling rules, and refusal-of-service protocols • Maintain a visible and active MED Occupational License badge at all times Point-of-Sale (POS) & Cash Handling • Accurately process transactions using the cannabis POS system (e.g., Dutchie) • Scan, weigh, and sell cannabis products in full compliance with state regulations • Handle cash accurately and balance drawers at the end of each shift • Apply discounts, promotions, and loyalty rewards according to company policy • Complete transaction verification before releasing product to customers Operations & Store Standards • Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned • Support inventory restocking, FIFO rotation, and METRC-tagged product handling • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor and back-of-house areas • Support online order fulfillment and accuracy checks Scheduling & Professional Expectations • Maintain flexibility with scheduling and floating, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak promotional periods • Arrive on time and remain engaged for the full duration of scheduled shifts • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members • Accept coaching and demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow Experience & Qualifications • Must be 21+ years of age • Retail or customer service experience preferred • Cannabis retail experience preferred but not required (entry-level candidates encouraged to apply) • Ability to obtain and maintain an active Colorado MED Occupational License • Strong communication skills and attention to detail • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs Compensation & Benefits • Pay Range: $19.29+ per hour, based on experience and role level • Tips: Eligible for tips • Benefits (for eligible employees): • Medical, Dental, Vision insurance • Employee discount • Training and advancement opportunities • Clear career progression to senior and lead roles Growth Opportunities Rocky Mountain High offers a structured Budtender career ladder.
