As a Culinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in our team by maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, supporting our culinary staff, and contributing to a positive dining atmosphere. Join us in creating memorable experiences for students while working in a dynamic environment!
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and dining area.
• Wash kitchen tools, equipment, and dishes using a dishwasher or by hand.
• Organize and put away clean dishes, glassware, cutlery, pots, and pans.
• Restock supplies, including food items and utensils, in designated stations.
• Sweep and mop floors to uphold hygiene standards.
• Properly sort and dispose of trash in designated areas.
• Assist in food preparation tasks such as preparing the salad bar and cold dishes as directed.
• Help unload and store deliveries efficiently.
• Foster a positive and professional working relationship with all coworkers and customers.
• Maintain open communication with management through calls and messages.
Required Skills and Abilities:
• Team player with strong collaborative skills.
• Familiarity with operating commercial dishwashers.
• Knowledge of best practices in the food service industry.
Preferred Education and Experience:
• Previous experience in a restaurant or similar kitchen environment.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Possess a valid food safety handler and sanitation certification or willingness to obtain one within 30 days of starting employment.
• High school or vocational education in kitchen fundamentals is preferred.
Special Demands:
• Work environment is often loud and fast-paced with inherent kitchen hazards.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and stand for extended periods of time (up to 8+ hours).
• Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals is common.
