Summary:
In alignment with the Chief Academic Officer’s (CAO) vision, the Executive Director of Academics provides leadership, supervision, and strategic direction for Academic teams to ensure all students receive rigorous, standards-aligned, inclusive, and culturally sustaining learning experiences. Assists the CAO with teams that are directly responsible for the design and delivery of high quality instruction and learning including directly supervising half of all Academics teams, which includes Early Childhood, MTSS, Literacy, STEAM, CLDE, Inclusive Teaching, Gifted Education, DDI, Academic Services, & Professional Learning. The Executive Director ensures the seamless integration and high-quality delivery of instructional resources, supports, and professional learning for educators and school leaders while advancing the organization’s academic priorities and strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
• Co-lead and coach all Academics teams responsible for the design and delivery of high quality programming and instruction including: Early Childhood, MTSS, Literacy, STEAM, CLDE, Inclusive Teaching, Gifted Education, DDI, Academic Services, & Professional Learning. Directly supervise and oversee half of all Academics teams.
• Build strong collaborative relationships within and across central office teams to drive impact and to respond to school needs, including Academics, Schools, Accountability & Evaluation, Human Resources, IT, and Operations.
• Support the execution of the district’s academic goals as defined in the district’s strategic plan.
• Design and lead/facilitate professional learning for Academics teams, school leaders, and instructional coaches in alignment with the strategic plan to improve and refine practice.
• Lead/facilitate and assist departments to successfully implement the Colorado Academic Standards in the district schools; develop and support systems to effectively communicate across district departments as well as with external stakeholders.
• Support the CAO in equipping Principals to be instructional leaders for their faculty and assist in establishing extensive training programs for teachers and administrators in partnership with Professional Learning based on best practices, standards for effective instruction and assessment, to prepare them for instructional leadership.
• Facilitate ongoing collaboration between the school leadership and content directors to implement and monitor instructional program models designed to improve achievement and provide access to all students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Masters degree in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, Educational Leadership, or Education Administration.
• Five to ten years of progressive experience with distinct level instructional systems, including curriculum, instruction, research, assessment, & programming in an environment comprised of diverse student body, sizeable student population of Emerging bilinguals, and free and reduced eligible students.
• Currently hold a valid Colorado Principal/Administration license.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
Preferred:
• Doctorate degree
• Ability to coach employees toward stronger performance.
• Knowledge of student assessment and data analysis for continuous improvement.
• Understanding of Multilingual Learners and appropriate programming.
• Understanding of Special Education services and legal requirements
• Experience with MTSS and Standards-Based Teaching and Learning.
• Knowledge of school-based budget/planning.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement, professional learning communities, and other current trends and issues in education.
• Knowledge of and ability to successfully lead complex change.
Salary Information:
Salaray Range 15: $125,194.00 - $187,789.00
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
• Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
