Happy Wednesday, Arvada!

Not everyone is slowing down… some people are just getting started again.
There’s a certain energy that comes with trying something new, especially when you’ve got years of experience behind you.
If that’s been on your mind lately, keep reading.

What’s Happenin’ is growing — want to join us?

Last month our local newsletters across Boulder, Arvada, Fort Collins, Longmont, and Denver were opened 275,000+ times by locals looking for things to do and places to go.

As we continue to grow, I’m looking to add one or two people to help with partnerships with local businesses.

If you love supporting local businesses and want to help grow these newsletters, just reply to this email and tell me a little about yourself.

50+ Job & Volunteer Expo

50+ Job & Volunteer Expo

📅 Thursday, April 30
9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
📍
Apex Community Recreation Center (6842 Wadsworth Blvd)
🎟️ Free (registration recommended)

If you’re 50+ and even slightly curious about what’s out there, this is one of those events that makes it easy to explore without pressure.

Here’s what you’ll find:

  • Local employers actively looking for experienced workers

  • Volunteer opportunities that can turn into part-time or full-time roles

  • On-the-spot job applications and real conversations (not just online forms)

  • Free snacks, because job hunting is better with snacks

  • Prize drawings throughout the event, including gift cards and books

This isn’t just a job fair. It’s also about figuring out what fits now. Maybe that’s extra income, maybe it’s a career shift, or maybe it’s just getting out and meeting people again.

There’s also a Career Education Class Series tied to the event, focused on sharpening job-seeking skills and helping people navigate today’s hiring landscape.

And honestly, one underrated part of events like this?
You realize pretty quickly you’re not the only one figuring things out.

If you were attending this, what would you be most interested in?

💘 Date Spot in Arvada

Arvada dates are all about small-town charm with local flavor. Olde Town Arvada is a go-to for strolling, cozy dinners, and dessert stops, while the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities adds a culture-forward twist with shows, exhibits, and open-air vibes. If you’re leaning outdoorsy, sunset views and picnic potential at Majestic View Park never miss.

🗳 Now Voting:  Arvada’s Best Brunch 🍳

Beer had its moment… now it’s brunch time.

We’re opening voting for Best Brunch in Arvada, the spots that turn slow mornings into a full plan. Breakfast burritos, strong coffee, patios when the weather hits just right… you know the vibe.

If there’s a place you always recommend, this is your chance to back it.

One More Thing

Opportunities don’t always show up in your inbox or on LinkedIn. Sometimes they’re in a rec center, over a quick conversation, or tucked between booths you almost didn’t stop at.

If you’ve been even a little curious about what’s next, this might be one of the easier ways to start.
