🚴‍♂️ So… Where Do You Actually Ride in Arvada?

wha - 3.30.jpg

Happy Monday, Arvada!

You can stare at a map for hours and still not know which routes are actually worth it. Some look perfect until you’re riding next to fast traffic wondering how you got there. The good news is, locals have already figured it out… and it’s way better than it looks on Google Maps.

What kind of ride are you usually going for?

What’s Happenin’ is growing — want to join us?

Last month our local newsletters across Boulder, Arvada, Fort Collins, Longmont, and Denver were opened 177,000+ times by locals looking for things to do and places to go.

As we continue to grow, I’m looking to add one or two people to help with partnerships with local businesses.

If you love supporting local businesses and want to help grow these newsletters, just reply to this email and tell me a little about yourself.

Ralston Creek Trail

If you’ve been biking around Arvada, you’ve probably noticed there’s no single “best” route. It’s more about how everything connects. Once you figure that out, your ride options open up fast.

Here are the routes locals keep coming back to:

🌊 RalstonClear Creek = Your Go-To

Start on Ralston Creek Trail and you’re set.

  • West → Golden

  • East → connects to South Platte, Bear Creek, and Cherry Creek trails

This is how you build long rides without dealing with traffic.

🏔️ Golden Loops

Once you hit Golden, you’ve got options:

  • Van Bibber → Fairmount

  • Loop North Table (add South Table if you want a climb)

  • Back via Clear Creek

Easy to adjust distance and difficulty mid-ride.

🚴‍♀️ Standley Lake Routes

Simms works, but there are better-feeling options:

  • Independence → Oberon → Kipling

  • Canal paths near Kipling

A bit longer, but quieter and smoother.

🌿 Dry Creek Trails

Underrated and super useful:

Great for chill, low-traffic rides.

🛣️ Solid Road Options

For road riding:

  • Simms (better northbound)

  • Indiana (new bike lanes help)

  • Garrison → Carr → 72nd → Independence

Also, don’t overlook neighborhood streets. They connect more than you think.

🚴 Big Rides

Want distance?

  • East → downtown Denver

  • North → US-36 path to Boulder

These are your all-day routes.

🧭 Quick Tip

Use a heatmap like Strava.

It shows where people actually ride, which usually means safer and smoother routes.

Bottom Line

Arvada is more connected than it looks. Start with the trails, then mix in roads and connectors. One good route usually turns into five more.
