Arvada Trails Worth Exploring This Week

Sometimes the best reset is a simple walk outside. Arvada has dozens of neighborhood trails that wind through parks, canals, and open space you might drive past every day without realizing they’re there. If you’re looking for a fresh route this week, here are a few local trails to put on your list.

5 Local Trails to Explore in Arvada

Leyden Creek Trail

🥾 4.75 miles

One of the most scenic trails in west Arvada, this route follows Leyden Creek through Pattridge Open Space with wide views of the foothills. Some sections are natural surface through open space, while other portions near Alkire Street are paved around the Youth Memorial Sports Complex. It’s popular for walking, biking, and horseback riding.

Barbara Gulch Trail

🥾 2.25 miles

Branching off Leyden Creek Trail, this paved path follows the Barbara Gulch drainage into preserved open space west of the Town of Leyden. Expect big foothill views and a quiet setting. The trail currently ends near the Leyden Rock subdivision, but there are plans to extend it farther west in the future.

Heritage Canal Trail

🥾 1.75 miles total

This trail runs alongside the Croke Canal and Farmers’ High Line Canal and exists in a few segments across Arvada. One section wraps around Broad Lake, while others run through east Arvada near Indian Tree Golf Course and Standley Lake. The Standley Lake section is also part of the Rocky Mountain Greenway Trail.

Moon Gulch Trails

🥾 2 miles

Several trail segments wind through Moon Gulch Open Space, Saddle Brook Park, and Spring Mesa Park. The paths follow the Moon Creek drainage and connect to nearby open space areas, offering a quiet escape on the west side of the city.

Fairmount Trail

🥾 2.75 miles

This flat multi-use trail starts near Ralston Creek Trail and heads south toward Golden. Along the way you’ll get great views of North Table Mountain while following an irrigation canal between Long Lake Ranch Park and the North Area Athletic Complex.
