What’s Happenin’ is growing — want to join us?
Last month our local newsletters across Boulder, Arvada, Fort Collins, Longmont, and Denver were opened 177,000+ times by locals looking for things to do and places to go.
As we continue to grow, I’m looking to add one or two people to help with partnerships with local businesses.
If you love supporting local businesses and want to help grow these newsletters, just reply to this email and tell me a little about yourself.
Arvada’s Low-Key Trails You’re Probably Missing 🌄
Arvada’s local trail system is surprisingly stacked. These aren’t the big, headline-grabbing hikes, but that’s kind of the point. They’re easy to access, less crowded, and perfect for a quick reset.
Here are a few worth checking out:
Leyden Creek Trail (4.75 miles)
If you want that “get out of the city” feeling without actually leaving Arvada, this is it. You’ll pass through Pattridge Open Space with wide views and a mix of natural and paved sections. Good for walking, biking, or just zoning out for a bit.
Barbara Gulch Trail (2.25 miles)
Branches off Leyden Creek and heads deeper into open space. It’s paved, easy to follow, and has some of the best foothill views on this list. Quiet, underrated, and worth the detour.
Moon Gulch Trails (2.0 miles)
More of a network than a single trail. You can weave through Saddle Brook Park, connect to other open spaces, or extend your route if you’re feeling ambitious. A solid option if you like choosing your own adventure.
Fairmount Trail (2.75 miles total)
Flat, scenic, and great for an easy walk or bike ride. You’ll get views of North Table Mountain as it follows an irrigation canal south toward Golden.
Heritage Canal Trail (1.75 miles total)
This one pops up in different parts of Arvada. It runs alongside canals, parks, and neighborhoods, making it perfect for short walks or quick rides when you don’t want to commit to a long trek.
Blunn Trail (1.3 miles)
A connector trail that quietly links some of Arvada’s bigger paths. It runs near lakes, open space, and even a disc golf park, so there’s a little variety packed into a short distance.
Discovery Trail (1.5 miles)
Starts at Lake Arbor and winds through greenbelt neighborhoods. Easy, paved, and super accessible. Great for a casual stroll or quick evening walk.
Most of these trails are multi-use, and some allow horses, so keep an eye out for signage. Whether you’ve got 20 minutes or a couple of hours, there’s something nearby that gets you outside without overthinking it.
