What’s Happenin’ is growing — want to join us?

Last month our local newsletters across Boulder, Arvada, Fort Collins, Longmont, and Denver were opened 177,000+ times by locals looking for things to do and places to go.

As we continue to grow, I’m looking to add one or two people to help with partnerships with local businesses.

If you love supporting local businesses and want to help grow these newsletters, just reply to this email and tell me a little about yourself.

šŸ—³ Now Voting: Arvada’s Best Breweries šŸ»

Pastries had their moment. Now it’s beer time.

We’re opening voting for Arvada’s best breweries — Olde Town hangouts, hidden gems, and the spots that just feel like your go-to.

Have a place you always end up at?

šŸ‘‰ Vote and help crown Arvada’s best.

Need a brain break?

Play trivia, crosswords, and word searches built just for locals. These games aren’t just fun...they’ll test how well you actually know your city. Great for killing time, learning something new, or proving you’re the true local legend.

Craving: Lot One

Upscale vibes without the upscale attitude. Lot One is a go-to for elevated comfort food, solid cocktails, and a great patio setup (fireplace included šŸ”„). Think burgers, street tacos, brunch favorites, and a drink menu that makes it easy to stay awhile.

Sunday, April 12 is doing a lot in the best way possible.

First up, the Arvada Kite Festival is back at Stenger Sports Complex from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This is one of the city’s biggest annual events, and if you’ve never been, it’s exactly what you think it is… but bigger. Hundreds of kites in the sky, families spread out on blankets, and that classic ā€œstay longer than you plannedā€ kind of vibe.

You can bring your own kite or grab one there, then spend the day watching demonstrations from the Rocky Mountain Kite Association, wandering through 100+ local vendor booths, and working your way through more food trucks than last year. There’s also a full lineup of free kid-friendly activities like face painting, inflatables, and hands-on exhibits from the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

A few quick tips:

  • Parking opens at 10:45 AM and fills up fast

  • Free bike valet is available (honestly the move)

  • No pets or grills allowed

Then, just a few minutes away in Olde Town, you’ve got something completely different but just as worth checking out.

The Arvada Flour Mill is celebrating its 100th birthday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. This one leans more local and low-key, but in a good way. Think live music, bread baking contests, milling demos, and a chance to actually learn a bit about Arvada’s history without it feeling like a history lesson.

It’s also part of the America 250 and Colorado 150 celebrations, so there’s a little extra meaning baked into it (literally).

If you plan it right, you can hit both. Start with kites, swing through Olde Town, and call it a full Sunday.
