Inflation might be real, but so are Denver spots still serving big flavor for under $10. Locals know the move: skip the hype, chase the value, and eat really well without wrecking your wallet. Here’s where Denverites are still winning at cheap eats.

🥞 Breakfast That Hits Before 10 AM

Sam's No 3 — Early bird classics clock in under $10, including full-stack pancakes that feel like a dare.

Bánh & Butter Bakery Café — $6 ham & cheese croissants and flaky danishes that disappear faster than parking on Broadway.

🥪 Lunch Legends (a.k.a. Strip-Mall Gold)

Vinh Xuong Bakery (Athmar Park) — The city’s most-loved bánh mì for under $9. Airy baguette, lemongrass pork, zero nonsense.

Jerusalem Restaurant (University) — Beef or lamb gyro with fries for under $9. Yes, fries included. No notes.

🍔 Dinner Deals That Still Feel Like a Treat

My Brother’s Bar (LoHi) — The classic Steerburger for $9.95. Historic, messy, perfect.

Tamale Kitchen — Combo plates under $10 and half-dozen tamales for $8.50. Reliable. Filling. Beloved.

• Quiero Arepas (Berkeley) — Venezuelan arepas loaded with flavor for $9–$9.75. Gluten-free bonus, no sacrifice.

🍻 Happy Hour Heroes

• Number 38 (RiNo) — Wings + a pint for $10. Enough said.

• Pete’s Kitchen — Daily specials under $10, late-night approved.

Why these spots actually slap:

They skip the fluff, stick to authentic flavors, serve real portions, and don’t care if the dining room is fancy. Some of Denver’s best food lives in humble storefronts—and that’s exactly where the deals are.

Pro tip: Go off-peak, ask about daily specials, and don’t sleep on neighborhoods outside downtown. Your wallet will thank you.

Denver Council Rejects Airport Lease for ICE Contractor

Denver City Council voted 11–1 to reject a lease agreement that would have given Key Lime Air ground space at Denver International Airport, citing the airline’s role in transporting ICE detainees.

One council member warned the decision could put $90 million in federal airport grants at risk, though DIA operations for the airline will continue.

Reporting earlier this fall showed Key Lime Air operated dozens of ICE transport flights. That sparked protests in Denver and Boulder, including criticism of the University of Colorado’s use of the airline for team travel.

A lease for about 1,200 square feet on DIA’s south cargo apron for equipment storage, parking, and an office trailer. The airline can still use shared storage space at the airport.

Council members opposing the lease said the vote was about sending a message against practices they believe harm Denver communities.

Protests against the airline are expected to continue, including one planned in Pueblo this weekend.
