✊🏾 Honoring Dr. King Across the Mile High City

Today, Denver comes together to celebrate the life, legacy, and ongoing impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. From one of the largest MLK Day celebrations in the country to music, storytelling, and a powerful heritage rodeo, this is a day rooted in reflection, community, and action.

Here’s how Denver is honoring MLK Day today:

Martin Luther King, Jr. Marade (Civic Center, Denver, CO)

📍 City Park → Civic Center Park | ⏰ 10:00 AM | 🎟️ Free

Part march, part parade — and entirely powerful. Denver’s MLK Marade is the only combined march and parade of its kind in the U.S. and has grown into one of the largest MLK celebrations in the nation. Thousands gather to walk together from City Park to Civic Center Park in a moving show of unity, remembrance, and hope.

Good Trouble

📍 Dazzle | ⏰ 6:30–8:00 PM | 🎟️ $20–$25

A soul-stirring evening of music and meaning. Daryl J. Walker leads this special MLK Day performance inspired by the legacies of Dr. King and John Lewis, blending live music, spoken word, and calls to action. Designed like an old-school mix CD with purpose, Good Trouble is family-friendly, empowering, and built to inspire the next generation.

MLK Jr. African-American Heritage Rodeo

📍 Denver Coliseum | ⏰ 6:00 PM

This annual rodeo honors the often-overlooked history of Black cowboys and cowgirls in America. Expect bronc riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, mutton bustin’, and more — all while celebrating culture, heritage, and resilience in a high-energy, family-friendly setting.

Today is about more than a day off — it’s about showing up. Whether you’re marching, listening, learning, or celebrating history, Denver offers meaningful ways to honor Dr. King’s legacy and carry it forward.
