Happy Monday, FoCo fam,

Ben here — and our Best Burger poll actually got a solid turnout this week. Many of you chimed in, weighed your cravings, and delivered a crystal-clear Top 5 straight from the FoCo community. And it actually tells the full story of who’s serving the city’s best patties.

Your votes + Google = delicious, data-backed truth

🥇 1. Rally 5 Crafted Eats & Bar

Rating: ~4.6 ★

No surprise this one topped your votes. Rally 5’s patties are juicy, their toppings go big, and locals swear by the green-chile everything. A FoCo staple with loyal followers — the kind who’d vote twice if they could.

🥈 2. Big Al’s Burgers & Dogs

Rating: ~4.4 ★

Huge flavor, wild toppings (the PB&J burger lives rent-free in people’s brains), and a fast-casual vibe that never disappoints. Big Al’s practically defines downtown burger culture.

🥉 3. Tap and Handle

Rating: ~4.5 ★

Most come for the taps, stay for the insanely underrated burger. It’s the classic “Oh wait… this is actually incredible” bar-burger surprise. Great beer + great burger = an easy bronze medal.

⭐ 4. Austin’s American Grill

Rating: ~4.4 ★

Consistent, comforting, and always a safe bet. Not flashy, not overhyped — just a well-made FoCo staple that locals keep coming back to.

⭐ 5. Crown Pub

Rating: ~4.4 ★

An iconic Old Town hangout serving an old-school pub burger done right. Simple, reliable, and the vibes are just… cozy. Great pick from voters.

Mayor-Elect Emily Francis Eyes Housing, Climate & Community

Emily Francis will be sworn in as Fort Collins’ next mayor on Jan. 13, 2026, after winning the city’s ranked-choice election and stepping up from her current role as mayor pro tem and District 6 council rep.

She’s taking the job at a time when housing affordability, climate action, and community connection are all colliding — and she’s framing her term around balancing those tensions.

  • Plans to work closely with four new council members to “keep Fort Collins livable.”

  • Top priority: sustainable funding for affordable housing, diverse projects, and faster development processes.

  • Says the city needs both more housing supply and good-paying jobs.

  • Acknowledges climate investments can drive up costs, and wants to recalibrate without abandoning ambition.

  • Wants more “third spaces” so adults who aren’t in school or parenting still have places to gather that aren’t just bars.

Francis steps into office in January with big land-use calls ahead — from paid on-street parking to how vacant downtown lots get used.
