Job Description

Temple Grandin School is seeking a dynamic, compassionate science educator to join our math/science team. Our small, highly collaborative academic team works closely with student support to provide an engaging learning environment for neurodivergent students. We are seeking applicants who demonstrate enthusiasm for interdisciplinary, project-based, innovative approaches to science education and exploring the natural world with curious and intelligent students. In the coming year, we plan to offer multi-aged classes with support provided for differentiating science content to a broad range of learning styles. Students & Classroom • 2-4 classes; 5-10 students per class, grades 6-12 • Highly engaged, twice-exceptional students • Behavioral support provided as needed by student support team Curriculum & Teaching • Content-area expertise required: • Science, general knowledge of physical, earth and space, and biological sciences • Content-area expertise preferred: special education, experience working with neurodiverse students; educational technology; engineering/robotics; coding • Opportunity to contribute to STEM curriculum design and continued TGS program development • 1:1 chromebook environment using Google for Education and additional digital tools Work Environment & Team • Strong academic team committed to collaboration and cross-disciplinary support • Partnership and teaming with student support team • Opportunity to participate in delivering TGS programs to help students grow socially as well as academically • Interest and ability to engage with students at all times during the school day in order to take maximum advantage of teachable moments • Professional development provided • Benefits include PTO, contribution to employer-provided health insurance, available 401K • Salary depends on hours, education and experience To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential responsibilities. • B.A/B.S degree in education and/or math/science from an accredited institution or related field (M.A./M.S preferred) • Colorado State certification in teaching in appropriate subject area (or ability to transfer certification from another state), or significant professional/teaching experience in a science discipline • Working knowledge of the core strengths and challenges that characterize learners on the autism spectrum. • Valid Colorado driver’s license • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others, including students, parents, TGS staff, and community partners. • Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds. • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. • Ability to maintain confidential information about students, and limit distribution to those who need to know within the school staff • Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis. • Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program. • Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology, including Google Drive and/or Microsoft Office Suite (documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and email management). • Agreement with the academic goals and philosophy of Temple Grandin School, as outlined in the TGS Student Parent Handbook.
